Eclipse9 is proud to offer full size replicas of the NASA Voyager Golden Record and Pioneer Plaque

How would you send a "message in a bottle" to the universe? What would you say to an alien being who might one day find it?

In 1977 two spacecraft launched into space to explore our outer solar system. Voyager 1 has already left our solar system and is the farthest human-made object ever made. Both Voyager probes carry on them a golden record, a big "hello!" from all of us on Earth, just in case someone finds them one day. The golden record has on its outside engraved instructions for how to operate the record, and the record itself contains sights and sounds from our planet, music, and greetings in 55 different languages.

Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan chose these representative photos and audio recordings, and their son spoke the iconic "Hello from the children of planet earth" message. As Carl Sagan said,  "The spacecraft will be encountered and the record played only if there are advanced space-faring civilizations in interstellar space. But the launching of this 'bottle' into the cosmic 'ocean' says something very hopeful about life on this planet."

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the launch of this remarkable mission with this full size (12 inch, ~30 cm diameter) replica of the Voyager Golden Record. The disc is made of golden metallic laminate and laser etched in amazing detail.

Record comes in a 100% recycled cardboard LP record slip. Proudly made in Australia.

The NASA Pioneer space mission launched two spacecraft in 1972 and 1973, each bearing a golden plaque. The images on the plaque explain to any alien being who might find it who we are, and where we come from. The illustrations were designed by Carl Sagan, and the nude images of the man and woman caused quite a bit of controversy at the time. Sagan was forced to alter the figures to make them more acceptable to the public...

The iconic figure has taken its place in human history and culture, and both plaques are currently in interstellar space on board Pioneer 10 and Pioneer 11.

This full size metal replica of the original Pioneer plaque is laser etched and cut from golden anodised aluminium, and measures 23 x 15 cm (6 x 9 in) and is 1 mm thick. The image is engraved in very high detail. Even the bolt holes used to secure the plaque to the spacecraft are cut out. A fantastic gift for the space geek in your life, or for your space collection!

What's the difference between the "metal" and "laminate" replicas?

Both are full size replicas of the original. The difference is in the material.

The metal replica is made of anodised aluminium. It is rigid, 1mm thick with a thin golden layer which is highly reflective and mirror-like. When laser etched, it reveals the silvery-metallic colour underneath. The back side is also golden.

The laminate replica is made of a type of acrylic plastic that has a black layer with a golden layer on top. When laser etched, it reveals the black colour underneath. The back side is black. It is 1.6mm thick and slightly flexible.

My son-in-law the astrophysicist was thrilled with this gift.

Kiara

Item arrived just in time and in perfect condition! It's a stunning conversation piece and looks fantastic as part of my home decor.

Declan

Excellent replica, really delighted with the look of the Pioneer plaque! Although made of plastic, the finish has a metallic look, similar to bronze anodised aluminium. The engraving is very clear and visible from a distance.

Ron

Wow, so cool! While it isn't a metal replica, it is a beautiful reproduction of the Pioneer 10/11 plaques! I have wanted one since they launched.
